Active vacations on the Hochkönig in Salzburg
Looking for some action, a few thrills and a powerful shot of adrenaline during your vacation? In that case, the Vitalhotel Post is great for you. The surrounding countryside and impressive mountain massif of the Hochkönig present you with countless opportunities for action sports of all kinds:
Mountaineering on the high-alpine peaks, or mountain hikes that incorporate fixed-rope climbing trails, rafting, paragliding, mountain running or trekking – you can do all of this and more right here.
The Königsjodler Climbing Trail
The Königsjodler is the most difficult fixed-rope climbing trial on the Hochkönig and the longest in the SalzburgerLand. It involves about 1700 metres of climbing and leads via the Teufelshörner to the Kematstein and ends at the Hoher Kopf. The Königsjodler mostly follows an exposed ridgeline.
You will have to overcome ravines big and small, some of which require spectacular rope traverses, plus eight occasionally very angular towers.
The route is highly challenging, especially since you generally descend very steeply from the tops of the towers, only to have to commence climbing the next tower barely a few metres further on. The landscapes are very impressive and the panorama is unbeatable. This climbing trail is secured almost in its entirety by a fixed rope, except for a few easier stretches of pure hiking.
The 1700 vertical metres of the Königsjodler climbing trail are very difficult and classified as level C, with a few segments even reaching a D.
This route is NOT recommended for beginners or children.

Rafting on the Salzach
The Taxenbach Rafting Center lies right on the Salzach River and offers heated changing cubicles, along with its own private putting-out area here amid this untamed natural setting. Aside from exciting rafting tours, the Rafting Center also offers paragliding, tandem flights and canyoning.
Canyoning in the Kitzloch Gorge
Canyoning is a mixture of hiking, rappelling, climbing, waterfall jumping and swimming. A sport which turns gorges into water slides and rocky backwaters into natural swimming pools. Clamber, protected by neoprene, through narrow canyons, follow the water’s course and jump over waterfalls, enjoy this truly unforgettable adventure.
We would be glad to custom-tailor your very own action-packed holiday package.
