Gold-Panning & Bird of Prey Station in the Rauris Valley
Hochalm Bird-of-Prey Station
Riding cabin lift No. 135 run by the Rauriser Hochalmbahn lift company, you are just a matter of minutes away from the bird-of-prey station located at the summit terminus. Experience “up close and personal” these great creatures in free flight. Owls and other birds of prey are presented to the public, while we are also given extensive explanations about their behaviors and the lives they lead. Afterwards, we can make our way on foot to the mid station at the “Heimalm”, where we can wind down our day panning for gold.

At these two gold-panning sites, you will be able to experience what the miners of old, who hunted here for gold in the 15th and 16th centuries, left behind. An expert will teach you the fundamentals of what gold panning is all about.
